Eastern North Carolina has a new outlet shopping center. Located in Mebane, this center has over 100 stores and is easy to get to. The center is just off Interstate 40/85 exit 154, in between the major metropolitan areas of Raleigh/Durham and Greensboro/Winston-Salem.
Outlet Shopping
This shopping center consists of stores established by manufacturers to sell goods at discounted prices. The merchandise may be prior years, or factory seconds. It is generally still of acceptable quality, but shoppers should inspect the products carefully. Often, selection of styles, colors and sizes may be limited.
With more than 100 stores, this outlet, one of 31 currently operated by Tanger Outlets, has a vast number of choices for budget conscious shoppers. There is also a food court and five places to eat, and a number of freestanding carts with snacks, and free Wi-Fi.
The outlets are open Monday to Saturday from 9 to 9, and Sundays 11 to 7, year round. Hours may be extended during special occasions, such as North Carolina Tax Free Weekend, (the first weekend in August), or Black Friday. Check with the center website for details.

Enjoying the Day at the Tanger Outlet
On busy days, parking can be a challenge. The outlet center is set up as a rectangle, with parking on three sides. Late comers on the event shopping days can be greeted with a long walk, or a struggle to find a close spot in the tight aisles.
The stores are comfortably air conditioned, and there are some covered areas to protect against the hot summer North Carolina sun. Shoppers will find the least crowded conditions on weekdays or early or late in the day.
Whether you are looking for bargains or to get all the clothes that kids will need for back to school, the Tanger Outlets in Mebane have great deals all gathered in one place.
